About Jaco:
Jaco Appelman researches and applies Bio-Inspired Innovation & Design approaches, with an emphasis on regeneration. He currently works at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Utrecht where he developed and coordinates a master Bio-Inspired Innovation.
He facilitates & coaches policy- and decisionmakers on (circular) transitions and was in the last year an invited speaker to the NASA VINE conference and invited speaker at the ministry of Infrastructre and Water where he also participated in a Master class on bio-inspiration.
He is currently advisor to Rijkswaterstaat, co-runs an ‘edible’ mini-camping as sustainably as possible and enjoys collaborating at the local level to develop cooperative forms of organization that are resilient, adaptive and easily transferable. Such as the development of a local Food and energy cooperative in Broekland.
He co-authored a book titled “Zo Kan Het Ook” that hopes to inspire people to adopt a more nature inclusive life style.
