Speakers BiomimicryNL Boost Festival - 23 October 2020
Lydia Fraaije - Fraai Architecten
About this Talk (in English): Biophilia - The nature within us Humans have always been drawn to, dependent on, and fascinated by the natural world. Biophilia, which literally translates to “love of life,” is the idea that this fascination and communion with nature stem from an innate, biologically driven need to interact with other forms of life such as animals and plants. As architects and designers we can use certain patterns in space to stimulate this relationship and awareness of being part of our natural environment. Applying biophilia in space results in a more healthy body and mind. Especially during these hard times during the pandemic people seem to find their connection with nature again. Maybe you have noticed it yourself, by taking more walks outside and noticing the resilience of nature when human activities have slowed down? The pandemic also led to companies becoming more aware in creating healthy environments for their employees. During this talk Lydia will address how to find the nature within us and what you can do to create a more healthy space around you. |
